An office that’s homelier than home

3 Step IT is a services business that provides finance, lifecycle management and disposal solutions for its customers. The company has been ranked within the top fifteen in The Finnish Great Place to Work competition for nine years running. It’s clear that 3 Step IT values its employees highly. When they were moving to a new location within the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, 3 Step IT contacted us to help them in the creation of the new workplace. The targets for the new workplace were clear. 3 Step IT was looking for a workplace that supports the well-being of its employees and is inviting.

Although the company supports remote working, it also wants to encourage its employees to come to the office physically for collaboration. In the previous location, the different functions were spread out over different sides of the building. In the new office 3 Step IT wanted to improve the interactions between people.
Above all, 3 Step IT wants to provide a homely environment for its employees. “We wanted a workplace that is homelier than home”, says Anni Järviaho, HR Manager at 3 Step IT.

A workplace to enhance collaboration

Throughout the project, our Interior Architect, Irene Koukku, worked in a close co-operation with Architect Krister Andersson who was responsible for the architecture of the facility. One part of the planning process was doing an inventory of the existing furniture. We took in most of the old furniture, refurbished it, and sold it to new users through our Outlet stores. Some of the old furniture found its place in the new office. We also carried out the move to the new location.

“The new office is very stylish, homely and supports the good spirit of getting things done that we have in the company. A concrete thing is that the workplace supports better communication across different parts of the organisation. This is exactly what we were looking for. People talk more and with more people,” says Anni Järviaho.
