Kuntahankinnat and Martela sign framework agreement

KL-Kuntahankinnat Oy and Martela Corporation have signed a three-year framework agreement on office furniture and the related services for the period 9.5.2019-2.9.2022. Included in the agreement are local authorities, joint municipal authorities, local authority companies, local authority or joint municipal authority subsidiaries, and organisations within the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities group.

Kuntahankinnat held a competitive bidding process in spring 2019 for the framework agreement covering office premises and Martela was selected as number 1 supplier in the framework arrangement. The objective of the framework arrangement is to provide customers with more choice in the various changing needs of working in the form of furniture or services essentially related to workplaces. The aim is to increase the efficiency of purchases – to make it easier to make purchases for individual furniture needs or renovation projects. Kuntahankinnat emphasises environmental responsibility in its purchases, and this was a key consideration in the selection criteria regarding the supplier in the framework arrangement. Social responsibility was also taken into consideration in the competitive bidding by using the high-risk country suitability requirement and the Code of Conduct, which is supported by the terms and conditions of the framework agreement.

Purchases within the framework agreement may include either quick deliveries of furniture to different customer organisations or more extensive arrangements that include the delivery of new furniture, interior design, removal services, the inventory and reuse of old furniture, and the recycling of old surplus furniture through Martela Outlet (in Finland) or as materials. The framework agreement has two operating models and customers can select and commit to either the cascade system or the mini-competition model.
